What is Lowestoft Shopmobility?
We are a registered charity (No. 1100208) committed to the affordable hire of all mobility equipment either long or short term. The equipment includes 4mph mobility scooters, travel scooters, powered wheelchairs, manual wheelchairs, tri-walkers, rollators and walking frames. We are also currently selling new and reconditioned mobility equipment along with batteries for mobility scooters and powered wheelchairs.
The Charity was founded in 1997 and has made over 19,102 hires since then. We hire equipment to those in and around the Waveney area as well as those who are visiting or having a holiday here.
Who can use the service?
Anyone whose mobility is restricted by age, illness,disability or accident regardless of whether the restriction is of a permanent or of a temporary nature. The Scheme is open to those who wish to use it on a regular basis (full members) or those who wish to use it on a casual basis (temporary members).
Advice and Instruction.
We can offer free and impartial advice on the use and maintenance of mobility products as well as free instruction on the use of mobility scooters and powered wheelchairs.
D.I.A.L. also offers a free impartial and confidential service, providing information, advice and representation services to all disabled people living in Lowestoft, Waveney and North Suffolk. For more information visit www.lowestoftdial.co.uk
When and where is the Shopmobility service available?
The service is open four days a week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday). Between October and March the opening times are 0930hrs to 1230hrs and 1300hrs to 1500hrs. Between April and September the opening hours are extended by one hour, 0930hrs to 1230hrs and 1300hrs to 1600hrs. Our main office is at 15 Station Square, Lowestoft and we also hire out equipment from the Tourist Information Offices in Lowestoft and The Navigator in Lowestoft Library. Between April and September we also hire out equipment from the The Boating Lake and Cafe Southwold, which are also open on Sundays and Bank Holidays.
